Our Background

Avid supporters of Canadian Agriculture, in 2006 after 12 years as an engineer Kent forfeited a promising career to grow food and promote agriculture.  In 2007 we became the only producer for the Sackville CSA and in two years our farm will grow by six times.

Our Farm

Constantly seeking ways to improve our farm system, we grow vegetables, produce eggs and some livestock to provide safe and great tasting food.  We use environmentally friendly and sustainable farm practices that enable us to grow vegetables without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.  To learn more about our farm visit:  http://naturesroutefarm.ca

Our Motivation

We enjoy being physically fit, eating well and working hard.  We are motivated by a strong sense of personal accountability and social responsibility that seems to be diminishing in our modern consumer driven society. We are very committed to growing food, building a stronger agriculture sector and contributing to our community.  In order to build a stronger agriculture industry (to feed the population and preserve the environment) farming must become profitable and environmentally sustainable.  This will result in renewed interest from younger people and existing farmers – a necessity for the world to eat.

Our Mandate

Kent and Ruth Coates work hard to promote sustainable agriculture practices and to develop a viable food system.  Our mandate is to provide a healthy environment for our family to grow while making an equitable income using environmentally and ecologically sound agriculture practices.  We consider our interaction with the people who eat our food critical to our success.  Furthermore, we believe so strongly in agriculture that we are obliged to play a role in public education and to grow as much food as our sustainable system allows.  We act on our beliefs and offer apprenticeship opportunities and public speaking sessions to work towards the success of a new and more sustainable food system.

Can someone contace me via email with pricing? I’m a resident of Moncton and am wondering if you deliver to Moncton?

  2. Harold Jarche Says:

Carolyn, our membership is currently full this year but we are taking names for a waiting list. Nature’s Route Farm is our only source of fresh produce at this time and it’s a small family-operated farm. Deliveries are made to Sackville twice weekly during the Summer. Home delivery in the Sackville area is available at an extra charge.

Delivery to Moncton would most likely be too expensive for the farmer and yourself.

Nature’s Route Farm does offer some additional produce for a sale at the Sackville Farmers’ market on Saturday mornings, so it might be worth your while to come to the Bridge Street Cafe for a visit.
