3.5 Portage Pork Plus
Portage Pork Plus is owned and operated by Arndt and Gabriele Becker. The farm is located at 5240 Route 15, Portage NB. The farm has been in operation since 1978.
We are a Canadian Quality Assurance (CQA) certified farm which grows and sells naturally raised pork.
Our hog operation provides a humane and animal friendly environment. Our animals enjoy a natural setting with generous living space and the use of shavings, straw and hay bedding. We do not clip teeth or dock tails. Our piglets stay with their mothers for 4-5 weeks which is 2 weeks longer than conventional hog operations. We feel these practices reduce stress and promote animal well-being.
All animals are fed natural feeds (no antibiotics or hormones). Although it is more labour intensive and costly since the animals take longer to finish, animal health and welfare is our priority. All these practices allow us to produce better textured, tastier quality meat products for our customers.

Fresh (not frozen) pork orders are available only on cutting day. We butcher at a local provincially inspected abattoir on a weekly/biweekly schedule subject to demand.
